Session Taxonomy

Use one canonical vocabulary across extraction, analysis, and reporting.

Outcome (Tier 2)

  • success: task completed and interaction ended cleanly.
  • mixed: task progressed but result quality was mixed (some issues, corrections, or conflicting signals).
  • failure: task failed or answer quality was clearly incorrect.
  • abandoned: user moved on before completion.
  • not_applicable: automated session (heartbeat/cron) with no direct user task.

Satisfaction (Tier 2)

  • positive: user expressed clear approval.
  • neutral: no clear sentiment signal.
  • negative: user expressed clear dissatisfaction.
  • mixed: both positive and negative signals appeared in one session.

Standardization rule

  • Prefer mixed over partial_success everywhere.
  • partial_success is legacy wording and should be treated as an alias for mixed when reading historical data.
